Search and Filter Enhancements
Numerous enhancements have been made in the areas of Search and Filtering to increase the scope of the functionality allowing for the presentation of quick and granular results when analyzing large volumes of data.
Highlights include:
A distinction between Search and Advanced Filtering. The term Search is reserved for a top-level search across all areas of the product. Advanced is now referred to as Advanced Filtering and changes to labels and icons in the Portal reflect that update.
Search has been expanded to include users. You can now quickly locate user profiles using First Name, Last Name, Login name and email. User profiles can be active or inactive. See Navigating with Search.
Advanced Filtering now offers expanded query building options that extend into all areas including Inventory, Users and Privileges, User Groups, Solutions, Data Collection Status and Administration. You can now create queries using all relevant fields in the database with specific operators to further refine and locate the information you need. The ability to add custom filter logic is also available. See Advanced Filtering.
Inventory Specific Advanced Filtering offers additional functionality that allows you to save the query you build and access it as required for a specific object type. Also available in the Inventory is the ability to filter on multiple objects at the same time using the Filter by field. You can copy and paste a comma or space separated list into the Filter by field to return a custom data set. See Saving Advanced Filters (Inventory) and Valid Entries for Filtering.
Report Filtering has been enhanced to include custom filter logic. With custom filter logic, you can now build queries to find exactly the type of information you need to examine your datacenter. This custom filtering is available on all tabular reports. See Advanced Filtering for Tabular Reports.
Solutions Expansion and Enhancements
Keeping with the theme of creating analysis suites that are easy to use and provide relevant details, both the Storage Optimization and the Risk Mitigation Solutions have been expanded.
Highlights include:
The Storage Optimization Solution now includes a cost component so you can quickly examine the costs associated with optimization opportunities and have them visually represented. By knowing costs, you can use the information to help prioritize the problems that have the greatest fiscal impact for your organization. This cost parameter has been added to Storage Optimization rules and all the Storage Optimization solution reports with their associated drilldowns. See Configuring Storage Optimization Rules.
The reports, Storage Optimization Analysis and Storage Optimization by Tier now visualizes the data as double donut charts providing an easy way to view two dimensional data. See Storage Optimization Analysis and Storage Optimization by Tier.
The Risk Mitigation Solution added new rules that are visualized through drill down reports from the Risk Mitigation Analysis report:
VM Datastore Forecasting examines VMWare datastore statistics for the number of weeks in the defined period to forecast the date when storage will run out within a three year period.
VM Guest Forecasting examines VMWare guest disk statistics for the number of weeks in the defined period to forecast the date when storage will run out within a three year period.
Host Multi-Pathing Exposure examines hosts that may be at risk if they have less than a specified number of paths.
The Storage Optimization Solution added a new rule, Sources Backed Up by Multiple Servers, that can be visualized through Storage Optimization Solution Reports and highlights Hosts that are at risk if they have less than a certain number of paths defined.
See Configuring Risk Mitigation Rules and Configuring Storage Optimization Rules.
Both Storage Optimization and Risk Management rules have been expanded to include the concept of “sources of backup” to accommodate Veeam Backup & Replication, Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) and Cohesity DataProtect support and collection. As a by product, some of the rules (and their corresponding detail reports) have been renamed:
Risk Mitigation: Client Overall Status Summary is now Source Overall Status Summary
Risk Mitigation: Client Consecutive Failure is now Source Consecutive Failure
Risk Mitigation: Clients with No Recent Backups is now Sources with No Recent Backups
Host Group Management
In an effort to refresh Host Groups and improve their usability, a number of updates have been made:
Management function operations are now available from the grid in the Inventory. Once you’ve filtered the data, select a host or backup server to activate the management functions on the action bar. These functions have been added to the Host Group Overview to eliminate the need to navigate away from the page to make changes. See Managing Hosts and Backup Servers.
Host Group Membership Operations can now be access directly from the grid in the Inventory. Cut, Paste, Copy and Remove are now available from the list view enabling you to quickly move hosts and backup servers between Host Groups. See Host Group Membership.

Portal Performance and Usability Improvements
The Inventory has been enhanced with the following improvements:
Performance - Numerous updates have been made to the Inventory to dramatically improve the performance for large scale environments.
New Feature: Pinning Reports - In the Inventory, a new pin icon displayed on tabs allows users to easily add/remove reports by pinning/unpinning a report to an Inventory object type. Pinned tabs can also be renamed by right-clicking the tab and selecting Rename. See Pinning Reports - Saving Reports with Inventory Objects.
Report Selection Change - Reports are now selected and added to Inventory Object Types by a new +tab. This is similar to the way new dashboards are added. The +tab is used in combination with the Pinning Reports feature. The Select Reports link has been removed from the Inventory. See Choosing Reports to Display.
New Objects: FA Shares and Volumes are now displayed - Enhancements have been made to more fully leverage collected data and address the most common File Analytics use cases. The modified Capacity Forecast by Volume/Share serves as the overview page for the object group. See Show Objects.
Host Group Icon Removal - In an effort to de-clutter and improve the user experience, the Host Group icons in the Inventory have been removed from the hierarchy panel.
Reporting and Scheduling have been enhanced with the following improvements:
New Objects: SQL Template Designer - Datastores, VM guests and VM servers are now available as scope widgets in the SQL Template Designer, allowing for report templates created for these objects to display in the Inventory.
Standardizing Icons for Success, Warning and Failure - In an effort to make the status more readily identifiable, we added a graphic component to some legacy color indicators to represent common status states. This also helps with color-related accessibility issues. These new icons appear in several reports and in the Portal.
Scheduling and Alerting now accepts CRON expressions - Using CRON expressions adds more flexibility to scheduling operations in the Portal. This has also been added to reports when scheduling alerts. See Configuring Master Schedules and Viewing and Managing Your Scheduled Reports.
Host Group Overview in the Inventory now allows you to configure the dashboard portlets with your custom attributes, providing a view of the data further honed to your environment. This feature enables you to select any defined Attribute and have it render as a part of the pie chart. The feature also allows you to change the position of the portlet on the dashboard.
The Portal has been enhanced with the following general improvements:
New Apache Version Support - Apache 2.4.33 is now supported for new installs on both Linux and Windows to take advantage of the latest security patches.
Label Changes on Data Collector Administration and Status pages - To create consistency and clarity around the status of a Collector and policies, the labels have been changed on buttons and in the grid. For collectors, button labels have been changed from Turn On to Enable and Turn Off to Disable. For policies, button labels have changed from Activate to Enable and Stop to Disable.
Support Tools Update - The default sorting has been changed to display the last request first and the percentage of download complete is now displayed when appropriate.
Name Change for IBM TSM - Throughout the Portal menus, dialogs and report titles, IBM TSM has been updated to IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM). The following report names have been changed:
TSM Storage Pools Dashboard has been changed to IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM) Storage Pools Dashboard.
TSM Database Utilization has been changed to IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM) Database Utilization.
