Capacity Planning Summary - Array
To access this report, in the Navigation pane select:
The Capacity Planning Summary report provides a graphical representation of the allocated capacity by Array and could also show an aggregated grouping by an attribute, for example, Business Unit. A summary chart includes bars representing the allocated capacity for all arrays or attributes in the report’s scope, followed by individual charts displaying used and unused capacity for each array/attribute. Often, array usage is allocated to departments in an organization, so this report can provide an at-a-glance view for department capacity planning. See Capacity Planning Bar Chart.
The report relies on historical chargeback data, so a number of prerequisites must be in place for relevant data to be available.
Several Scope Selector parameters affect the organization of the data rendered in the report.
Attribute
Select an Attribute to aggregate the data by an attribute, such as Location or Department. To configure attributes for a host, see Adding Attributes in the APTARE StorageConsole User’s Guide.
Group by
Weeks, Months, Quarters, Years.
Report by Tier
This grouping is driven by Capacity Chargeback Policies.
Capacity Planning Bar Chart
This is a host-perspective report, which includes storage capacity discovered either by host data collection or mapping via a WWN associated with an array’s storage paths.
Used = Total used capacity (written to by the host) of the allocated storage
Unused = (Allocated to host) - (Used by host) where Used by host means filesystem usage
Note that if the storage type is a mix of SAN and DAS, this storage is not included in the reported capacity.
