Tape Media Detail Report
Detail reports are related to a specific enterprise object, such as a backup job. You can only access detail reports through a link presented in the context of a main report, providing additional information that augments the main report. Detail reports cannot be generated, customized, or saved, as they are specific to the report from which they were derived. They are not available in search results.
Explore your data center using APTARE IT Analytics customizable report templates or by using parts of your IT infrastructure as entry points. Use Search to find reports, templates and dashboards across the portal.
Use the Reports tab to examine the APTARE IT Analytics catalog of templates, dashboards and reports - organized by products along with user-created, and system folders. The main report is located here:
Click the Media or Volume ID.
The details displayed in a Tape Media Detail report are specific to the backup vendor, although some fields are common to all backup products. At the bottom of the Tape Media Detail report, a table lists additional backup event details by node name, session name, or save set—depending on the structure and terminology of the corresponding backup product. Estimated Capacity Notes
Every time tape data is captured, APTARE IT Analytics recalculates the estimated tape capacity for the tape media type and volume pool combination. It takes into consideration the written KBs for the media type and volume pool for full tapes and then stores the average as the estimated tape capacity. Initially, when there is not enough data captured, this value may look low compared to the capacity stated by the vendor. Over time, the estimated capacity improves to the actual number of KBs that is being written to the tapes. Note that the amount of data that fits on the tapes differs based on the compression algorithm used and the type of data that is being backed up, which results in different compression ratios.
