Data Domain VTL Errors
Displays a summary of error statistics for all virtual tape libraries (VTL) in a Data Domain system. The number of soft and hard errors per VTL are listed. Soft errors represent errors from which the system recovered, so additional actions are not required. No preventative measures or maintenance actions are necessary. The main reason to monitor soft errors is to ensure that performance is not being impacted by a large number of soft errors. Hard errors, on the other hand, indicate more serious issues and the system could not recover from them. These errors typically require user intervention. View the Data Domain logs to determine an appropriate action.
Data Domain VTL Media Summary
Displays a summary list of media, enabling an overview of the tapes in use by one or more Data Domain systems. The media IDs (otherwise known as barcodes) identify a tape associated with a Data Domain system. In addition, the pool indicates whether the tape is in a user-created pool or the default pool. Likewise, the location indicates if the tapes are in a user-created library or in the virtual vault. Use the Available columns to determine the amount of unused space on each virtual tape, as well as a total of all available tape space.
Data Domain VTL Performance
Contains graphs that represent statistics for all drives in the Data Domain VTL: Reads Mb/sec, Writes Mb/sec, Operations/sec. In addition to library configuration details, such as number of drives and slots, bar charts provide an at-a-glance view of virtual tape library (VTL) performance for each library. Click sections of the bar charts to drill down to Data Domain filesystem status details, relevant to the read/write performance statistics.

SLA Report Templates
Backup Duration SLA
Displays the total number of backups that completed within the specific time range. The information is displayed in bar chart. Best practices for report generation:
Use a consistent duration so that you can develop and compare data across the same interval.
Create a duration report for each business unit or for each customer. Depending on how your company stores data, the Administrator can set up groups for each business unit.
If you have different SLAs with different groups of users or customers, create a unique report for each SLA so that the data doesn’t become skewed. Even if you have the same SLA for all users or customers, consider generating a unique report so that you can share backup duration performance data that is specific to their jobs.
Backup Start Time SLA
Displays the total number of backups that began within a specific time range of their scheduled start time. Use this report to determine what proportion of backups started at their scheduled time, or were delayed and by how long. If jobs are consistently missing their targeted start times, you may need to investigate the feasibility of your current schedule. A delay could be the result of other jobs taking too long or possibly because there are no drives available.
This report is applicable to only NetBackup, Avamar, and TSM.
Backup Status SLA
Represents the success and failure performance of the backup status SLA. Use the Backup Status SLA report to determine backup success performance and to identify backup failures. A typical backup success percentage might be 85%, as indicated by the Successful Backups Goal line shown in the bar chart. You can drill down into any failed job to identify the cause of the failure.

Available or Reclaimable Storage Template Reports
Allocated but Undiscovered LUNs
Often referred to as orphaned LUNs, these are LUNs that have been assigned to a host, but they have not been discovered and therefore are not seen on the host side. The array has created the LUN and the storage path exists, but there is no access to host port and host information, such as disks, partitions, and volume groups. To make these LUNs visible to the host, a system administrator must execute a LUN scan or, for older OS and volume manager versions, re-boot the system. Otherwise, this storage is not available for mounting file systems. The LUN scan tells the HBA (host bus adapter) that a LUN has been zoned to the host.
For HP 3PAR: LUNs refer to Virtual Volumes and Volume Groups refer to Common Provisioning Groups.
Allocated but Unused LUNs
Displays LUNs that are assigned to a host, but the host has not been placed into a volume group, or a partition has not been created. The array has created the LUN and the storage path exists, making the host and host port information available. However, the host storage details—disks, partitions, and volume groups—are not available for the host associated with the storage path.
For HP 3PAR: LUNs refer to Virtual Volumes and Volume Groups refer to Common Provisioning Groups.
Array Utilization Dashboard
Displays a dashboard of bar charts and tables that provide capacity and usage details, enabling a quick glance of potential reclaimable storage. The Usable capacity values show a summary of overall array storage consumption from various viewpoints: virtual, internal, external, used, and free. Likewise, the chargeback policy list breaks out capacity usage to help you determine if you have full coverage for your chargeback policies. As a prerequisite for this report, capacity chargeback policies must be configured.
Array Utilization Summary
Displays a summary listing of each array’s capacity and usage. This report identifies the percentage of raw storage allocated to RAID groups and, more importantly, the percentage of raw capacity that is available. Displays a summary listing of each array’s capacity and usage.
Reclamation Summary
Lists possible SAN storage reclamation. This report enables you to visualize all possible storage types that potentially could be reclaimed. The Areas of Reclamation charts provide drilldowns to relevant details. A pie chart illustrates potential reclamation categories.
Suspected De-provisioned Hosts
Lists hosts that are candidates for re-assignment. Storage often is allocated from a storage array and provisioned to a host, but when that host is re-assigned or de-provisioned, the storage remains unused. This report identifies suspected de-provisioned hosts by determining data staleness—that is, finding hosts for which data has not been collected within the specified time period. The default period is 14 days, however, you can choose from 3 days to a year for the report’s time period. Hosts in this list deserve further investigation to determine if they truly have been de-provisioned. Often when hosts are retired, their storage is not given back to the pool and that storage remains unused.
Unallocated LUNs
Lists LUNs that are not allocated to any hosts. The array has created the LUNs, but there are no storage paths. For HP 3PAR: This report refers to Virtual Volumes (VVs). Mount point, file system, and host details offer a starting point for identifying reclaimable storage.
Unused Disks/Volume Groups
Provides insight into wasted space on hosts. It displays the total volume group and disk capacity, along with used and available capacity. This report provides a list of hosts that have available space. These hosts have space from which more partitions or logical volumes can be created. This report can be used to identify storage that has been requested, but that is not being used. In this report, if the RAID type = 1, the capacity is divided by 2, to reflect true usable capacity.
For HP 3PAR, volume groups refer to Common Provisioning Groups.
Unused Partitions/Logical Volumes
Lists all hosts with logical volumes that have no mounted file systems. A logical volume may have been created in the volume group, but the logical volume is not being used by the host. These unused volumes provide available storage

Application Capacity & Utilization Report Templates
Application Executive Summary (SAN)
Provides an overview of SAN-attached storage used by supported applications—including thick and thin SAN storage consumption—from the applications’ point of view. If your environment uses both SAN and DAS, or just DAS, see the Application Storage Dashboard for a combined SAN and DAS perspective. In this report, the following definitions apply:
Thick - Capacity that has been allocated by a traditional array group LUN.
Thin - Capacity that has been allocated by a thin-provisioned LUN.
Application Storage Dashboard
Interrogates the application to identify what storage is free. The table has three main sections of information: Application Storage, File System Storage, and Array Storage. Expand the application row to view details. Hosts that are using capacity are listed under each application, when you click the arrow to expand the list. The applications that can be configured for data collection, via host inventory probes, are MS Exchange, Oracle Database, and SQL Server.
Applications at Risk
Identifies applications that are at risk of running out of storage space. You can see which applications are expected to run out of storage and when. The report supports: SQL Server, MS Exchange, and Oracle Database. Application data collection can be configured by enabling host probes. If a threshold has been set for a particular application—that is, a database threshold—then that threshold is used to determine the risk. If there is no threshold associated with the application’s database, then other thresholds are checked, in the following sequence: Host for the associated LUN/Filesystem/Database, then host group to which the host belongs, and then the Top-level, global host group. If no threshold settings are found at the above levels, the system defaults are used: 90% for Critical, 70% for Warning, and 30% for Low. Thresholds can be set by an administrator using Admin > Threshold Policies.
Over-Provisioned Applications
Identifies applications that are at risk of having over-provisioned storage—resulting in wasted storage. Often, storage is allocated to a project, but never used. This report helps you to identify excess, unused storage so that it can be reclaimed for another purpose.

Lists aggregated tiered chargeback data. This Capacity Chargeback report enables you to aggregate the data by host groups or by a particular host attribute (for example, Department). The default is host group.
Chargeback Array Capacity
Displays chargeback usage and charges associated with storage array policies. Note that Virtual Capacity is applicable only for Hitachi arrays--that is, capacity from block storage, derived from daisy-chained external storage. This is array group capacity that does not have PDEVs in the storage array. Also note that for HP 3PAR arrays, a LUN refers to a virtual volume.
Chargeback by Host
Displays usage and user-defined chargeback/billing by host. Capacity Chargeback Policies are configured by the Administrator. The administrator uses these policies to assign a cost-per-GB to hosts in a host group.
Chargeback Policy Capacity
Displays chargeback policy capacity for RAID and LUNs. As a prerequisite for this report, capacity chargeback policies must be configured. Note that Virtual Capacity is applicable only for Hitachi arrays--that is, capacity from a block storage, derived from daisy-chained external storage. This is array group capacity that does not have PDEVs in the storage array.

Capacity At Risk Report Templates
Exception Summary
Lists all the filesystem mount points that need attention. Mount points may require attention for one of the following reasons:
Near Capacity: > 90%
Over-Provisioned: < 30%
Empty: < 5% (negative Rate)
Fast-Growing: > .9%
To provide a realistic forecast, the time span for determining when capacity may be at risk has been limited to five years.
Hosts at Risk
Lists only the hosts that require your immediate attention. Use the host link to drill down to particulars. Select a capacity threshold: Low, Warning, or Critical. This report lists only the hosts that require your immediate attention. Use the host link to drill down to particulars. Select a capacity threshold: Low, Warning, or Critical.
LUNs At Risk
Displays LUNs at risk by evaluating current and projected usage. When you generate this report, select a capacity threshold: Low, Warning, or Critical. Typically, for at risk reports, you will want to view the Critical LUNs—that is, those that are at risk of breaching the critical threshold and running out of space.
When reviewing the values in this report, note that LUNs at risk are determined by evaluating current and projected usage.
NetApp Aggregates at Risk
Lists host usage that is about to exceed the storage that was promised. For thin provisioning, it’s important to know when host usage is about to exceed the storage that was promised. The details shown in this aggregate report can help you understand the current physical capacity status. When an aggregate is at risk—the amount of used storage in the FlexVol approaches the aggregate’s capacity—it can be re-sized to add physical disk space to the aggregate. The Total Capacity value represents the amount of storage that has been committed or promised to hosts. Therefore, host resources data collection must be implemented in order to determine which Aggregates are at risk and an associated host must be at risk in order for the Aggregate to be considered at risk.
When you generate this report, you can select the threshold to report: Low, Warning, or Critical. Cluster mode version of the report is also available.
NetApp Volumes at Risk
Lists thin-provisioned volumes that may be at risk of over-commitment. When you configure thin provisioning, you enable multiple volumes to access the same pool of free storage. Since thin provisioning “commits” more storage to hosts than is actually available, it is important to identify the remaining, usable storage and the point at which the aggregate is at risk of not having available storage.
Host resources data collection must be implemented to determine which NetApp Volumes are at risk. Cluster mode version of the report is also available.
Over-Provisioned Hosts
Enables you to determine which hosts are over-provisioned. By determining which hosts are over-provisioned, you can take steps to reclaim the space before committing resources to acquire additional storage. Over-provisioning leads to increased costs as a result of under-utilized storage.
When you execute this report, you can select the Threshold for the list that will be displayed. Typically, you’ll be interested in the Low or Warning thresholds. Since this report shows over-provisioning, the list will show usage that has not reached the threshold.
Over-Provisioned LUNs
Displays over-provisioning by showing LUN usage that has not reached the specified threshold. Over-provisioning leads to increased costs unless you reclaim the space. When you execute this report, you can select the Threshold for the list that will be displayed. Typically, you’ll be interested in the Low or Warning thresholds. The list will show usage that has not reached the threshold.
