Running the Upgrade Utility Installer
The following instructions assume:
You have the APTARE StorageConsole Upgrade CD which contains upgrade installer files for all platforms
or
You have the specific upgrade installer file for just your platform.
Troubleshooting Tips
A known issue associated with Security Enhanced Linux (SELinux) may arise when executing scripts that require Java. This results in a permission denied error message. To resolve this issue, configure SELinux to enable Java processes to run. Consult the operating system documentation.
When upgrading to APTARE StorageConsole 10, the date format defaults to the Portal operating system locale, and ignores any previous configuration in the portal.properties file.
Installation from the APTARE StorageConsole Upgrade CD
Use the steps in this section to upgrade from the upgrade CD. If you are not using the upgrade CD, refer to Installation from a Single File Specific to an OS.
Note: Perform the installation as user root for Linux systems.
1. Note the Operating System of the server on which you want to install the upgrade utility.
2. Mount the APTARE StorageConsole Upgrade CD on the system you are upgrading.
3. Navigate to the file install.htm in the root directory of the CD and open it in a browser.
4. Download and save the appropriate upgrade installer file for your operating system.
5. Alternatively, if a browser is not available, simply copy the file path_to_CD/InstData/{OS}/VM/sc_upgrader_<release>_linux_<date>.bin to a temporary directory on the server you are upgrading.
NOTE: In the file path, OS represents the operating system of the server you are upgrading; and likewise, the file name will be OS-dependent—either .bin or .exe.
6. Proceed to section Running the Upgrade Utility Installer to run the upgrade installer.
Installation from a Single File Specific to an OS
Note: Perform the installation as user root for Linux systems.
If you do not have an upgrade CD and, for example, you downloaded just the single installer file specifically for your OS, simply copy that file to the server you are upgrading and then proceed to section Running the Upgrade Utility Installer to run the upgrade installer.
