Array Executive Summary
Use Quick Search to find a template, report or dashboard by name. Search is case insensitive, supports partial entries, and will display a list of potential matches.
As you enter the name in the Quick Search field, up to 10 potential matches are displayed. If the template, report or dashboard is shown, you can select and run it directly from the match list. You can also click All Items in the match list to go directly to the Search Results.
Use the Explorer to browse through the StorageConsole templates, dashboards and reports. The navigation pane displays templates organized by products along with user created, and system folders. This report is located here:
The Array Executive Summary provides a single view of the physical array capacity and usage in an enterprise. A pie chart reflects the allocated and available storage, while each row in the table summarizes usage by storage vendor.
This report offers a view of physical storage. From an asset management perspective, this Executive Summary provides instant visibility into how much physical storage is owned, how much has been allocated for use, and how much remains for future use.
Note: Since IBM SVC arrays serve as block storage, they are not included in this report of raw, physical capacity.
In this report, the following definitions apply:
Thick - Capacity that has been allocated by a traditional array group LUN
Thin - Capacity that has been allocated by a thin-provisioned LUN
Vendor Name
The array vendor name; one row for each array vendor in your report scope.
Raw: Capacity
The sum of all raw capacity associated with the arrays (by vendor); For NetApp vFilers and V-Series, this represents only internal raw capacity and does not include vFiler capacity or gateway external capacity. For EMC Symmetrix arrays, this sum excludes hot spares.
Usage: Frames
The number of arrays for this vendor. Click on the link to view the Array Utilization Summary, which displays additional information for each array.
Usage: Total Usable
Amount of usable capacity from physical RAID groups, after RAID overhead; For NetApp vFilers and V-Series, includes external capacity. For HP 3PAR indicates total logical device usable capacity. For EMC Symmetrix arrays, this is the total capacity of the LUNs (RAID capacity).
Usage: Used
(Total usable capacity - available capacity) / total usable capacity
Usage: Available
Available capacity of the array groups in the storage arrays. The capacity of the open LUNs that do not have set paths; storage in disks that are not in a RAID group.
Protection:
Primary
Primary capacity; in the case of HDS arrays, it is the amount of the open allocated LUN capacity, the LDEVs with a path to a port (excluding the dynamically provisioned storage).
Protection:
Replica
The amount of capacity that has been replicated.
Efficiency: Thick
Amount of usable capacity from physical RAID groups; Thick refers to capacity that has been allocated by a traditional array group LUN. For HP 3PAR, this value represents a value that may not be mapped to a virtual volume.
Efficiency: Thin
Amount of capacity used for thin-provisioned storage; Thin refers to capacity that has been allocated by a thin-provisioned LUN.
Efficiency: Overprov
The percentage of the total capacity, both thick and thin, that has been
over-provisioned.
Tier 1
The amount of usable capacity from the tier, defined as a StorageConsole capacity chargeback policy with an associated priority and cost per GB. The name of the tier is dynamic, derived from the chargeback policy name.
Tier 2
The amount of usable capacity from the tier, defined as a StorageConsole capacity chargeback policy with an associated priority and cost per GB. The name of the tier is dynamic, derived from the chargeback policy name.
Tier 3
The amount of usable capacity from the tier, defined as a StorageConsole capacity chargeback policy with an associated priority and cost per GB. The name of the tier is dynamic, derived from the chargeback policy name.
