Hitachi Block Storage - Planning the Data Collector Deployment

Version 9.1.01
For details, refer to the APTARE StorageConsole Certified Configurations Guide and the APTARE StorageConsole Data Collector Installation Guide for Capacity Manager.
Hitachi Block Storage - Planning the Data Collector Deployment
1. Identify a server where the Data Collector software will be installed. Server requirements include:
64-bit OS. See the APTARE StorageConsole Certified Configurations Guide for supported operating systems.
Support Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.7.
Reside in the same time zone as the subsystem from which data will be collected.
For performance reasons, APTARE recommends that you do not install Data Collectors on the same server as the StorageConsole Portal. However, if you must have both on the same server, verify that the Portal and Data Collector software do not reside in the same directory.
Install only one Data Collector on a server (or OS instance).
TCP Port 2001 is the default port for Hitachi array data collection
If collecting performance data, the Data Collector must be installed on the same server as HTnM (Tuning Manager). And, a single Data Collector policy must be used to collect both the capacity data from the Device Manager server and the performance data from the Tuning Manager server.
2. On the Data Collector server, add entries to the local hosts file, both resolving to the Portal server IP address.
Example:
172.16.2.2 aptareportal.<yourdomain>.com
172.16.2.3 aptareagent.<yourdomain>.com

3. In the Portal, add or select a Data Collector: Admin > Data Collection > Collector. The User ID and Passcode configured in this step will be used later when you install the Data Collector software on the Data Collector server.
This configuration enables communication between the Portal and the Data Collector server. Refer to the Data Collector installation guide for details.
4. Select the Data Collector and add a Hitachi policy: Add > Hitachi Block Storage.
Field
Description
Domain
Typically, only one domain is listed; Managed Services Providers will have a domain for each customer.
Hitachi Device Manager Server
Address of the Hitachi Device Manager Server—either the IP address or server name. If this policy is being created to collect block storage shared with Hitachi NAS (HNAS), you must specify the IP address of the Hitachi Device Manager that manages the array that shares capacity with HNAS.
User ID & Password
As defined in Hitachi Device Manager; for Hitachi Device Manager 7.1.1 and 7.2, the user ID configured to access HDvM must have view permissions to HRpM and HTSM.
Exclude Arrays
List of array names or IP addresses to be excluded from data collection.
Array Details
Click the check box to activate array details collection.
Array Performance
Click the check box to activate performance collection and enable entries and selections for the HTnM Install Location and the Performance Schedule.
HTnM Install Location
For array performance data collection, the location of the HTnM (Tuning Manager) server installation directory.
HDT Collection
Activate HDT Collection. An HDT Schedule is not required if your HDvM is not managing VSP arrays running HDT.
Click the clock icon to create a schedule frequency.
5. On the Data Collector server, install/update the Data Collector software, using the instructions in the APTARE StorageConsole Data Collector Installation Guide for Capacity Manager.
