User’s Guide
Working with the Admin Tab
The Admin tab provides access to IT Analytics administration functionality.
Users
Users and Privileges: This section allows you to create user accounts and assign privileges. When you create a user account, you create the user details, access privileges, group membership and a password. See Task Overview: Providing User Access to the Portal.
Users Groups: This section allows you to create groups and organize users into these groups. Once you set up a User Group, you can configure the access privileges for the members of that group. See Creating User Groups.
Domains
Domains: This section allows you to create and maintain the host group hierarchy for your environment. A Domain identifies the top level of your host group hierarchy. See Adding/Configuring a Domain.
Chargeback
Backup: This section allows you to create backup utilization billing and chargeback policies. See Backup Manager Billing and Chargeback Policies.
Capacity: This section allows you to add and edit capacity chargeback policies to allocate costs for storage array usage. See Adding/Editing a Capacity Chargeback Policy.
SAN Fabric: This section allows you to create and manage SAN Fabric Chargeback Policies to associate a cost with fabric and port usage. These policies are used by the SAN Fabric Usage report. See Adding/Editing a SAN Fabric Chargeback Policy.
Solutions
Storage Optimization: This section enables storage administrators, system administrators, and business managers to have visibility into storage utilization over time. Analytics can be used to find dark storage, in an effort to contain costs and delay/avoid purchases of additional data storage. See Solutions Administration.
Risk Mitigation: The Risk Mitigation Solution addresses the infrastructure risk for both backup/recovery and storage operations to prevent downtime for critical applications. In partnership with the Storage Optimization Solutions, the Risk Mitigation Solution supplies not only data, but business analytics to manage backup compliance and storage performance.
Data Collection
Collection Status: This section allows you to monitor data collection from a single window. See Monitoring Data Collectors
Collector Administration: This section allows you to set up and manage collection policies for a variety of products and storage arrays. See Adding/Editing Data Collectors.
Host Inventory: This section allows you to configure and manage host inventory. See Understanding the Host Data Collection Process.
Collector Updates: This section allows you to configure and manage downloading updates for collectors. See Deploying Updates to Collectors.
Reports
Thresholds: This section allows you to manage Capacity Manager threshold policies for file system, host group, host, LUN, Database, or NetApp Aggregate. Threshold Policies enable you to establish Low, Warning, and Critical levels from which to manage the state of your capacity utilization. See Adding/Editing a Threshold Policy.
NetBackup Discovery: This section allows you to set up policies to identify servers, media servers, and server file systems. See Create and Edit Discovery Policies.
Backup SLA: This section allows you to create and edit SLA policies to manage service level agreements. See Adding/Editing an SLA Group Policy.
File Categories: This section allows you to define/Edit file categories to report on groups of file metadata that has been collected by File Analytics. (Super-User only) See File Categories.
Master Schedules: This section allows you to maintain a master report schedule, where reports are scheduled to run automatically on a regular basis. See Configuring Master Schedules.
Backup Windows: This section allows you to define custom backup windows. See About Custom Backup Windows.
Advanced
Configure Proxy Server: Use this dialog to provide details in a proxy server is used to connect to the Internet. Click Test Connection to validate the connection.
Parameters: These parameters provides a mechanism for customize internal host resource. They can be configured as well as restricted. Do not make adjustments to Advanced Parameters without assistance from Customer Support. See Overview.
Attributes: This section allows you to add and manage characteristics (object attributes) to facilitate reporting. See Adding Attributes.
Publish Benchmark Data: Users can elect to share their performance profiles with the Cloud—the APTARE community of users who share their performance profiles of configured arrays. From the performance profiles, APTARE IT Analytics issues reports of the community’s aggregated performance profiles to those customers who opt-in. See Adding/Editing a Cloud Policy to Share Performance Statistics.
Object Maintenance: The IT Analytics database contains a variety of objects on which reports can be generated. These objects also can have attributes associated with them to further refine the scope of a report. Using the Object Maintenance tool, you can manage these objects. See About Object Maintenance.
Support Tools: To help facilitate troubleshooting when working with Support, you can download data collector log files and portal configuration files for a specified time period. Email notifications can be set to alert you when the files are available for analysis. You can also choose to send the files directly to Support when the package is ready. See Support Tools.
System Notifications: At login, an alert indicator, shown as a badge on the main toolbar, notifies the Administrator to any issues that require attention. The System Notifications window lists system events that require your attention such as pending license expiration, collection reached license limitations etc.
