What’s New for this Release
APTARE StorageConsole 10.1.01 includes a number of new enhancements including collection from new systems, additional reports, new chart types, and many Portal enhancements.
New Vendor System Data Collection
Microsoft Azure - As a part of cloud-based data collection, StorageConsole now supports Microsoft Azure. Azure reports are available for billing, capacity and virtual machines: Microsoft Azure Endpoint Summary, Microsoft Azure Storage Account Summary, Microsoft Azure Billing Summary, Microsoft Azure Resource Group Summary, Microsoft Azure Subscription Summary, and Microsoft Azure Virtual Machine Summary. Azure database views are available in the SQL Template Designer to construct custom reports. Azure enterprise objects are also defined in the Dynamic Template Designer.
OpenStack Ceilometer - As a part of cloud-based data collection, StorageConsole now supports OpenStack Ceilometer, which exposes metrics provided by the various other projects within OpenStack into a common retrieval mechanism for chargeback billing. Note, currently StorageConsole only captures metrics for OpenStack Compute (Nova). Ceilometer views are available for use in the SQL Template Designer and the Data Collector policy is classified under Cloud.
Database Enhancements
Performance Improvements - Database enhancements have been made to improve performance for report database queries, especially in large environments.
Host Group Cleanup Utility - Prior versions of StorageConsole automatically created several server groups during backup data collection. In certain environments, these auto-generated groups may not be needed, as other host groups are more relevant. A new utility serverGroupCleanup, can be used to clean up a Portal’s host groups, moving servers/hosts and child host groups from a host group and then deleting the source host group. While this utility, by default, is intended for system-created host groups, it can be used for any host group that you want to delete, but retain its contents.
Data Collection Enhancements
NetApp ONTAP 9 - Data collection now supports collection from NetApp ONTAP 9.
Host Inventory Advanced Search - The Data Collection Host Inventory advanced search dialog enables filtering of data by host type, such as VM Server, VM Guest, VIO Server, Oracle Container, Oracle Zone, or Other.
Activity Summary Reports - Several new activity summary reports provide details to aid in troubleshooting data collection performance: Data Collection Performance Detail and Data Collection Performance Summary, with drilldown access to the Data Collection Activity Detail and the Data Collection Hourly Activity reports.
EMC Symmetrix VMAX All Flash Adaptive (AFA) Compression Support - Metrics can now be collected, enabling reporting on compression ratios and savings. Historical data is captured in support of trending reports. The EMC Symmetrix Compression Ratio Summary renders this collected data.
EMC Data Domain and Veritas NetBackup Image-Level Compression - Data Domain collection now includes a probe to capture Veritas NetBackup image-level compression rates. Aggregated global and local compression rates for all Veritas NetBackup backup images can be collected for all active Data Domain Server MTrees connected (via DDBOOST) to NetBackup Master Servers. Use the following new report templates to take advantage of this newly collected data: Data Domain NetBackup File Compression Summary by Host and the Data Domain NetBackup File Compression Detail.
IBM SVC - Data collectors now support IBM SVC version 7.4.
Reporting Enhancements
Object Store Chargeback Summary - This report template has been enhanced to provide tenant-level statistics, with access to a detail report that includes namespace-level statistics. This report supports Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) chargeback reporting.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Scope Selection - The report scope selector for certain Amazon Web Services (AWS) reports now includes an Account selection, where relevant. This is particularly useful for billing reports.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Account Billing - Data collection now persists the rounded values and blended/unblended totals as reflected in invoices.
Data Domain Filesystem Compression Report - The bar chart now differentiates tiers: Used (Active), Used (Archive), Sent (Active) and Sent (Archive).
Portal Enhancements
SQL Template Designer Access to Database Views - StorageConsole provides a set of published read-only database views into the Reporting Database and related object model. You can now quickly access the views directly from the SQL Template Designer to look up the valid tables and fields. You can also download specific categories or the entire set as a PDF to use offline.
Ability to run and preview reports in the Inventory before assigning them as your base set of reports for an object - In the Inventory, you can select what reports you want to readily access for an object, by customizing that objects set of base pages. Now, as a part of the report selection process, you can run reports to preview the data. This allows you to verify that the data is exactly what you require.
Add an external reference from a website using the SQL Template Designer - Using the SQL Template Designer, you can create an tabular report template with a frame that can be populated from another URL providing HTML5 content. This special report template can then be placed on a dashboard and used in conjunction with other APTARE reports.
Manage Individual Inventory Objects - You can perform management operations for groups of objects in the Inventory List view. This functionality has been extended to individual objects when you drill into their Inventory Report view.
Support for Array Objects in the SQL Template Designer - Arrays are now part of the available object list in the SQL Template Designer. This addition allows you to build queries that include arrays.
All New Features and Objects in the Inventory are Visible to the Admin Role - Similar to new reports being displayed to the Admin role, when a user upgrades to 10.1.01, all new features are accessible to the Admin role.
