Creating Host Groups and Sub‑Groups
Host groups can contain zero or more hosts and zero or more sub‑groups. As described in Planning Your Host Group Hierarchy, you can create your host groups and sub‑groups based on physical and logical relationships. First, create the host groups that represent the physical relationships, then create the host groups that represent the logical relationships.
To add a host group
1. Choose Admin > Hosts and Domains > Hosts and Host Groups.
2. Click a host group folder or name to select it in the Host Groups Administration window.
Note that the host group you selected will be the parent of the host group you are about to add.
3. Click Add.
4. Enter the name of the host group you want to create, then click OK. The host group is displayed under the host group you selected.
Automated Tool to Create Host Groups
If you have a large number of hosts, you can use the provided PL/SQL utilities for bulk processing. Instead of manually creating and organizing host groups through the Portal, you can run PL/SQL utilities to do the work for you. For more information about batch processing, search the documentation for Bulk Load Utilities.
