Data Collector Updates with an aptare.jar File
The Data Collector aptare.jar file is periodically updated. The aptare.jar encapsulates the main processing logic of the Data Collector.
Note: The following steps are rarely necessary because the latest distribution of aptare.jar updates is distributed via the regular patch release process.
Preparing for aptare.jar Updates
2. Run upgrade.sh|bat to install the updates.
Linux:
# /opt/aptare/upgrade/upgrade.sh
Windows:
> C:\opt\aptare\upgrade\upgrade.bat
3. Apply the update automatically to the Data Collector using the reload.conf file and the Data Collector’s smartupdater.
Manual Download of the aptare.jar File
Use the following procedure to manually update your Data Collector if:
• Automatic updates have not been enabled via the Upgrade Manager.
• For some reason, the automatic update failed.
• You simply want to manually update Data Collectors.
1. Use the downloadlib utility to manually download the aptare.jar file. Note that this utility must be run with administrative privileges.
Windows: <Home>\mbs\bin\downloadlib.bat
Linux: <Home>/mbs/bin/downloadlib.sh
2. If you run the downloadlib utility and you get the following message, it indicates that the restore failed or is in progress: Restore has been running for more than 10 minutes, unable to proceed with collector upgrade.
To proceed, delete the restore.txt file and re-run downloadlib.
Windows: <Home>\upgrade\restore.txt
Linux: <Home>/upgrade/restore.txt
Note: When the Data Collector is upgraded via the automatic update, if you run downloadlib within 3 minutes of the automatic update completion time, it will take 3 minutes before downloadlib starts the update.
